Melrose City/Town: Chicago Website or Map: http://georgethecyclist.blogs… George Christensen will present a commentary and slide show on his latest bicycle adventure, a 3,500-mile circuit of Turkey, to the Armchair Travel Series of the Lincoln Belmont Branch Library at 6:30 p.m. on March 8.  All are welcome and admission is free.  The library is located at 1659 W. Melrose near the intersection of Lincoln, Belmont and Ashland. George's loop of Turkey this past November and December took him east along the Silk Road through the heart of Turkey to its eastern border with  Iran, Iraq and Syriaand then back to Istanbul along the Mediterranean.  His travels included the otherworldly wonders of  Cappadocia, Lake Van, Mount Ararat, assorted Greek and Roman ruins, Christian and Islamic pilgrimage sites, the Gallipoli battle field, the home town of St. Nicholas (Santa Claus). lectures to university students and much much more. Revolution is celebrating Mardi Gras and Fat Tuesday with an art show about Voodoo at The Flat Iron Bar in Wicker Park.

Community Soup Night at Logan Square Kitchen

Logan Square Kitchen will hold its second Community Soup Night on March 8 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.  It will be fun night for anyone interested in food – from gardening at any scale, to small scale food businesses, to having a relationship with farmers, to just eating good food!

Logan Square Kitchen, owned by Logan Square residents Zina and Nick Murray, is a commercial kitchen and event space that is committed to sustainability  at every turn.  Budding small scale food entrepreneurs can rent time in the kitchen to craft their wares that might end up on your table.  The event space is available for rental, and as well has been the site of many fundraisers, meetings and community events the bring people together and increase awareness of what is happening around the neighborhood.

If you want to make this a regular part of your schedule, please note that the next Community Soup Night is scheduled for April 12, also from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
