Edith Keme and Cornell Freeney Graduate
Edith, her father, and her two brothers, Prado and Donald.
Edith Keme came to the United States from Togo, West Africa in 2001 and Cornell Freeney joined CircEsteem in 2002.
Both of these individuals along with many members of their family started in our HomeWork & CircusWork program, became part of our CircusTeens job program, were members of our advanced performing troupe, and have traveled across the country and the world with CE. Edith was the second CircEsteem graduate to receive a prestigious scholarship from the Posse Foundation. She will be attending Dennison University in the fall and this summer will be the assistant camp director at our summer camp program.
Cornell Freeney attended Illinois State University with a General Assembly scholarship from State Representative Greg Harris. While at school he was a member of the Gamma Phi Circus and started his professional performing career with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines where he performs his gym wheel act on ice. Cornell plans to continue his performing career and pursue his dream of being a teacher where he will be able to bring circus to his classroom.
We are so proud of our graduates and all that they have accomplished. They are inspirations to the next generation of circus youth and proof that CircEsteem makes a difference by providing long term engagement and opportunities for success for many Chicago area youth.
