It is hard to imagine it being the case in America, but 16 million children in the US go without adequate meals every day – not receiving the proper nutrients they need to grow and thrive. In Chicago alone, 21.2% of children* face food insecurity. This is the staggering reality that led Plum Organics, the leading organic kids nutrition company, to take on the mission of nourishing babies and toddlers in need across the country through their newsocial impact program, The Full Effect™.

To help in the effort to nourish the one in five children who are food insecure in this country, Plum, with the advice of renowned pediatrician, Dr. Alan Greene,, created a new product — the Super Smoothie. This pouch is specifically designed for food insecure babies and toddlers and ispacked with essential vitamins and minerals, 3 grams of fiber and Omega-3’s from chia.  Earlier this spring, Plum pledged to give away half a million pouches in 2013 alone, 6,000 of which will be delivered to Chicago’s Carole Robertston Center for Learning on July 2nd.

CAMP AMAZING
Plum is also hitting the road this summer, stopping by Chicago the weekend of July 4, to deliver amazing activities and healthy snacks to children throughout the country as part of a 20 market national summer tour called Camp Amazing. Plum will set up shop with 5 interactive stations featuring educational games, organic snacks, craft projects, and superhero training, while teaching kids important values like healthy eating, creative thinking and giving back. Camp Amazing will also give kids a chance to get involved with The Full Effect through a “Do Amazing” pledge that will trigger an additional meal donation to a little one in need later this year.
