This Summer Marks the Debut of Two Free Family Music Festivals:
Rox in Sox and Wiggle Out Loud
Just Past: Rox in Sox: Aaron Nigel Smith and a host of partners brought the first free music and books festival to the Portland area, on August 3rd.
What's cool: Donations of socks and shoes will help kids in need.
Coming Soon: Wiggle Out Loud: Chris Wiser (Boom) of the Sugar Free Allstars presents the first-ever kindie rock festival in Oklahoma on September 1. The Verve Pipe, an alternative rock band most widely known for its 1997 blockbuster hit single, “The Freshmen,” will headline.
What's cool: tons of fitness activities.

Over the past few years, Heidi Swedberg, perhaps best known as the actress who played Susan on “Seinfeld,” has built a national reputation for her ukulele-inflected, highly interactive approach to family music-making. Amidst her ongoing weekly music classes at McCabe’s and Los Angeles schools, plus frequent national touring with the Sukey Jump Band, Heidi has produced her second album, due for national retail release on September 10th. ChiIL Out With Justin Roberts' 'Recess'
It's been more than two years since Justin Roberts received a Grammy nomination for Jungle Gym, and now he's recently released an even more energetic (how is that possible?) set of pop tunes that he's calling Recess. As if the music weren't enough, the album package includes colorful recessed printing, a pop-up robot, and secret links to craft activities and bonus media. Listen to three songs here.
