Fruit flies... along with terrifically talented teens, in this year's Fall Youth Circus Show at Actors Gymnasium. Bring the whole family and get inspired by an array of circus acts with a dash of myth, fairy tale, and a lot of good apples. I was particularly enamored with the nod to notorious RBG as judge presiding over the apple on trial for multiple homicides, deceptions, and sketchy plots over the centuries.

AG's Bad Apple incorporates lots of aerial arts like silks and straps as well as juggling, unicycle acts, acro, comedy and more, into a highly entertaining show.

My own son and daughter were cast in Actors Gymnasium's excellent fall and spring youth circus shows for years, and it was a stellar experience. I highly recommend catching their shows as well as auditioning and taking their adult and kids classes. Everyone cast in the youth circus shows hones their existing circus skills through hours of rigorous rehearsals and the results show. These are cleverly crafted, themed productions and a ton of fun for all ages. Don't miss this!

Bonnie Kenaz-Mara is a Chicago based writer-theater critic-photographer-videographer-actress-artist-general creatrix and Mama to two terrific teens. She owns two websites where she has published frequently since 2008: ChiILLiveShows.com (adult) & ChiILMama.com (family friendly).

The Apple is everywhere. It’s in fairytales, fables, folklore, modern technology, and even your belly. But what does it mean? Bad Apple weaves together stories of this seemingly simple fruit from the demise of Snow White to the chaos of quarreling goddesses. We journey through high schools, courtrooms, and kingdoms, all the while, asking the question: Is this a good apple...or a bad one?
