THE PALMER HOUSE HILTON CELEBRATES THE HOLIDAYS THIS DECEMBER

From A Warm Stop While Shopping to Holiday Traditions to Afternoon Tea to New Year’s Celebrations and MORE, the Palmer House has been synonymous with the Holidays for almost 150 years

The Palmer House Hilton, 17 E. Monroe, located in the heart of the Loop has been a destination for the holidays for nearly 150 years. For people making their Holiday purchases to ice skaters in Millennium Park to the crowds looking at the Holiday windows on State Street, the Palmer House offers a variety of activities, drinks and dining options. Gather near the 18-foot tall tree decorated with 7000 lights among its 15,000 branches located in the historic lobby while experiencing the elegance of an afternoon tea or enjoy holiday drinks and a bite to eat at Lockwood Restaurant & Bar and Potter’s or celebrate the season at one of the Palmer House’s Holiday activities.

Holiday Drinks available at Lockwood Restaurant & Bar or Potter’s:
Hot Toddy, $13.50, warm Seedlings apple cider cooked with cloves and cinnamon and Calvados brandy. (A spin on a traditional hot toddy by using a premium local apple cider from Seedlings)

Hot Buttered Rum, $13.50, Myers Dark Rum, homemade vanilla ice cream mixed with butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and brown sugar topped off with vanilla hand-whipped cream and sprinkled cinnamon

Warm Mulled Wine, $13.50, red wine cooked with orange and lemon zest, nutmeg, star anise, cloves, vanilla bean, brown sugar and honey

Non-alcoholic drinks:
Hot Chocolate, $6, premium hot chocolate, choice of traditional or peppermint

Spiced Cider, $6, warm Seedlings apple cider, cinnamon and cloves.

Afternoon Tea
Experience a classic afternoon tea in the famed lobby of the Palmer House Hilton with its Holiday tree and lobby decorated for the Holidays, available daily from 2 - 4 p.m.  Prices are $40 for adults/$20 for children and includes an assortment of teas, gourmet sandwiches, sweets and scones. Reservations are required and may be made by calling 312.917.3404.

Family Baking Class
Enjoy the season with the entire family! The Palmer House is hosting fun-filled family baking classes led by Executive Pastry Chef Fabrice Bouet. Chef Bouet and the Pastry Team plan to show families how to create signature holiday treats. Classes are $20 per person and include children aprons, chef hats, and sweets to take home.

Saturday. Dec. 20, 2 – 4 p.m. Christmas Cookies: learn to make and decorate Christmas cookies. Tasting with glass of milk.

Reservations may be made at Lockwood’s host stand, 312.917.3404. Participants meet at Lockwood Restaurant & Bar, in the Palmer House lobby, and are escorted to the baking class.

Grand and State Ballrooms, fourth floor, Saturday, Dec. 20 at 1 p.m. 

Nearly 400 tuba and euphonium musicians of all ages dash through the snow to bring Christmas cheer to the crowds gathered at the Palmer House. 

TUBACHRISTMAS is free to the public with no tickets or reservations required. The Palmer House is asking that audience members bring a donation of a non-perishable food item for the Chicago Food Depository.

Christmas Eve and Christmas Night Dinner
Wednesday, Dec. 24 and Thursday, Dec. 25

Lockwood Restaurant & Bar offers a four-course prix fixe dinner menu in celebration of Christmas, Wednesday, Dec. 24 and Thursday, Dec. 25. Recommended by the Chicago Tribune’s Phil Vettel, diners are able to enjoy the menu at Lockwood Christmas Eve from 5 – 10 p.m. and Christmas Day from 5 – 9 p.m. The dinner for adults is $76 and for children (4 – 10 years old) is $30.  Additionally, the Lockwood’s famous breakfast buffet will be available  Christmas Eve from 6:30 – 11 a.m. and Christmas Day from 6:30 – 2 p.m. Lunch will be available Christmas Eve from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Four hour complimentary self-parking is available at 55 E. Monroe Parking Garage, receive parking validation at Lockwood Restaurant & Bar’s host stand. New Year’s Eve Celebrations
Wednesday, Dec. 31 9 p.m. – 2 a.m.

The Palmer House Hilton is proud to announce that it will be the host of the Big Night America’s Chicago New Year’s Eve Party: Big Night Chicago, Wednesday, Dec. 31, from 9 p.m. – 2 a.m. at the Palmer House Hilton, 17 E. Monroe Street.

Events, including the opportunity to dance to music being spun by celebrity DJ Brody Jenner or live entertainment from Sam Fazio, take place throughout the hip & historic Palmer House with three different packages available, General Admission, VIP and Velvet Rope VIP:

· General Admission tickets, are currently $109.99 and will rise to over $150 as the night approaches,  consisting of all-inclusive bars, food, party hats and tiaras, and access to five party areas and ballrooms (including four dance floors)

· VIP tickets, includes general admission plus upgraded top shelf drinks, heavy hors d’oeuvres buffets and special seating areas. VIP tickets are currently $159.99 and will rise to $199.99 as the night approaches

· Velvet Rope VIP tickets and tables, includes excellent table service, access to all party areas and exclusive access to special entertainments in the storied Empire Ballroom. Velvet Rope VIP tickets are currently $259.99 and will rise to $359.99 as the night approaches.
