Here at ChiIL Mama, we've been a gymnastics family for the past 14 years and it's been an incredible adventure. Both my son and daughter who are now 14 and 16, began taking tots classes at 18 months and went on to join competitive gymnastics teams. My daughter stuck with it, competing from age 7 to 14 in USAG meets. So, we were elated when C.I.T.Y. Club Gymnastics Academy reached out to us about partnering up on a sponsored post about the benefits of gymnastics. We have been compensated for sharing this information with our readers. As always, all opinions are my own.
Through years of gymnastics I've watched my kids' confidence, strength and stamina grow, as they grew lifelong friendships with their teammates. They've learned the excitement of winning gold medals and trophies, how to cheer on their team, how to tenaciously practice till they mastered new skills, and sometimes how to fail gracefully. Some of their most treasured memories center around gymnastics.
If your family's considering beginning or continuing gymnastics, C.I.T.Y. Club Gymnastics Academy at 1723 S. Michigan Avenue Chicago, IL 60616 is a great place to start.
Speaking of Yurchenko Vaults (which my daughter was thrilled to learn at summer camp), C.I.T.Y is Natalia Yurchenko's vision and training facility, so advanced gymnasts can learn Yurchenko Loops and Vaults right from the originator they were named for!
C.I.T.Y. Club Gymnastics Academy is
Chicago International Team Yurchenko
As owner, Director of Team, and Head Coach of Team Yurchenko
she provides her exceptional background as an elite gymnast,
World All-Around Champion, and international judge
to train the elite gymnasts of tomorrow.
She brings World-Class gymnastics training to Chicago,
a World-Class city!
We also love that they have an assortment of classes for both girls and boys, a harder thing to find in Chicago than you might think. My son loved gymnastics but at the time, all the gyms close to us stopped with boys classes and competitive teams at an early age, so only my daughter continued advancing her skills.
My own kids are now both in some of the top high schools in Chicago taking AP and IB advanced classes. Both perform circus arts and theatre, and I believe the confidence and skills they have now are a direct result of the years of gymnastic they began as toddlers. Gymnastics classes taught my kids that physical exercise can relieve stress from school, skills take time to learn and build on steps learned before, and long term goals are key. Even the idea of bravely launching yourself into the air, or into scary tricks with blind landings has great parallels to the navigating the world in general, as does balance. So many stellar life lessons tie in to gymnastics.
Acronyms are great ways to remember key points, and we're impressed by the Core Values at C.I.T.Y. Club Gymnastics Academy that neatly make another key gymnastics term:
HANDSTAND
-------------------------
Core values define us. The core is the source of strength. Core strength in gymnastics is exemplified by the handstand. In a handstand position we are firmly grounded and pointing to the sky. Our core values ground us but do not limit us.
Check out C.I.T.Y. Club Gymnastics Academy for everything from birthday parties and parents night out sessions to lunch brunch time where kids can have gymnastics fun while parents run errands. There are a vast array of day camps for school off days, seasonal camps, classes, and competitive teams.
